Satellite class

Welcome to Satellite class! Here you will find our newsletters, photos of our topic work and any important information about our class. Satellite class is taught by Mrs Kilbey on a Monday and Mrs Thomas on Tuesday to Friday. Please pop back here to see what we have been getting up to during the term. 

This term:

During the autumn term, we will be covering lots of different areas of the curriculum.  We will be looking in detail at the history of the Aztecs and using lots of primary and secondary resources to investigate how the civilisation had an impact on the society we live in today.  We will study longitude, latitude and grid references within Geography and in RE, we will look at the ways in which different religions interpret right from wrong and how they try to make the world a better place. Within Art our focus is on sketching and using a variety of techniques to create effect.

Maths

In maths this term will we cover place value as well as recapping the four operations. A focus will be for one day a week on reasoning questions and mental arithmetic (10 in 10s).

Place value: value of digits in a number (includes decimals and negative numbers), ordering, comparing and rounding.

Four operations: recapping our written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

English

In English, we will be recapping and practising previous skills such as: ISPACE sentence starters, subordinating conjunctions and relative embedded clauses.  We will explore these skills through a range of different text types starting with non-chronlogical reports. 

Important Class Information:

Mondays and Wednesdays - The children have PE in the afternoons, so please send your child in PE kit.
