Curriculum
This Term’s Topic: Let there be Light
Our topic this term is based around science and the importance of light. We will be investigating where light comes from and why we need it for life on our planet. We will investigate how it can reflect off of some surfaces; investigate how shadows are formed and create a fair test; understand that the sun can be dangerous and how to be safe in the sun.
In history, we will look at religion through the years with a focus on Roman, Viking and Saxon Gods.
In art, we will studying areas of light and dark.
The key question we will be looking at in RE is to understand what it means to be a Hindu in Britain today.
We will continue with My Happy Mind in Wellbeing with this term’s focus on Engage.
In Mathematics, we will continue to focus on fractions, decimals, money, measure – length, mass and capacity.
In Computing, the children will understand using data from spreadsheets; they will be collecting data and input into Excel; create simple charts and answer questions about data.
In English, we will be exploring poetry and then be creating character descriptions.
Times Tables Rockstars: Regular practise of TTRS will help pupils to retain knowledge that they can utilise facts in other mathematical learning. All pupils should have their login details and can play on phones or tablets!
Times Tables: It is important all pupils learn their timetables up to the 12 times table and know these by the end of year 4. On Times Tables Rockstars, pupils can play 'Sound Check,' an MTC simulator that presents 25 multiplication questions (up to 12×12), with a six-second time limit for each question.
