Welcome to Ali Class!
Here you will find our newsletters, photos of our topic work and any important information about our class.

Ali Class is taught by Mr Prosser from Monday to Friday.

Our topic this term:

This term, our exciting topic is Up, Up and Away! We will be exploring the fascinating world of flight, discovering how things fly and investigating the amazing achievements that have shaped the history of aviation.

Across the curriculum, we will develop our scientific enquiry skills, explore significant historical inventions, create digital presentations, discuss different world-views and produce artwork inspired by movement. There will be plenty of opportunities to investigate, research, design, create and share our learning with others!

We will investigate the forces that affect flight, with a particular focus on air resistance. Through practical experiments, we will explore how air resistance works and how it affects different objects.

We will also have the opportunity to look at artists who capture movement and bring their work to life. We will experiment with different techniques and materials to create our own exciting artwork. To inform this we will explore the work of Keith Haring, using bold shapes, lines and colours to create artwork that conveys movement and develop accuracy in our own artwork inspired by his distinctive style.

From testing parachutes and investigating the science of flight to researching incredible inventions and creating expressive artwork, Up, Up and Away! Promises to be a fantastic journey of discovery, creativity and learning.

We look forward to sharing our achievements with you throughout the term!

Year 6 again will also have a Mock SATs Week, giving us an opportunity to practise our skills, become familiar with the assessment format and build confidence in applying what we have learnt.

Important Class Information:

PE Days: Tuesdays and Fridays. Children need to come to school wearing their PE kit.

Reading Books: reading books will be changed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Homework: A homework grid for this term is attached below (if required).

Reading: Please continue to listen to your child read daily, even for 10 minutes, and encourage them to complete the reading task in the reading journal. Books should be changed regularly.

Times Tables: It is important all pupils are learning (and continue to practice) the timetables up to the 12 times table. These should be known by the end of year 4 but it is essential that the children continue to practice and recall these facts.

Regular practise on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) helps pupils to retain knowledge and helps them to utilise these facts in other mathematical learning. Please encourage your child to log in regularly – even if only for a few minutes each time.
