Anning Class

Welcome to Anning class! Here you will find important information about our class.

I hope everyone has had a great break enjoying the sunny weather!

Our topic this term

This term's topic is Need for Speed, where we will be covering lots of areas of the curriculum. In DT we will be designing, building and evaluating. We will be looking at science (friction and forces), as well as lots of team-building exercises. We will study healthy foods and fitness, all in aid of supporting our final product. Within computing, we will look at programming skills and use spreadsheets to budget for resources and even use a green screen to advertise our work.

 Maths

In maths this term, we will be turning our attention to properties of shape, statistics  and revisimng our work on the four operations from earlier in the year.  As well as this, we will continue to consolidate written methods, solving problems in different contexts: deciding which operation and methods to use and why and also using estimation (rounding) and the inverse to check our calculations.

English

In writing, we will be developing our description skills, focusing on punctuation and grammar rules and looking at our class text 'Varmints'.

Important Class Information:

PE Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays. Children need to come to school wearing their PE kit.

Reading Books: reading books will be changed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Homework: A homework grid for this term is attached below.

Reading: Please continue to listen to your child read daily, even for 10 minutes, and encourage them to complete the reading task in the reading journal. Books should be changed regularly.

Times Tables: It is important all pupils are learning (and continue to practice) the timetables up to the 12 times table. These should be known by the end of year 4 but it is essential that the children continue to practice and recall these facts.

Regular practise on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) helps pupils to retain knowledge and helps them to utilise these facts in other mathematical learning. Please encourage your child to log in regularly - even if only for a few minutes each time.
