Ali class
Welcome to Ali Class!
Here you will find our newsletters, photos of our topic work and any important information about our class.
Ali Class is taught by Mr Prosser from Monday to Friday.
Our topic this term:
This term’s theme, Need for Speed, takes pupils on an exciting, cross‑curricular adventure. Throughout the project, children will explore key areas of the curriculum through hands‑on learning, problem‑solving and creative thinking.
In Design & Technology, pupils will design, build and evaluate their own products, developing practical skills and an understanding of how things work. Our Science focus will centre on forces and friction, helping children understand the principles that influence movement and speed.
Teamwork plays a big part in this topic, with a range of collaborative challenges designed to build communication, resilience and cooperation. Alongside this, pupils will learn about healthy eating and fitness, exploring how our bodies perform at their best—knowledge that will support the creation of their final product.
In Computing, children will develop programming skills, use spreadsheets to plan and budget for materials, and even experiment with green‑screen technology to create promotional content for their work.
As part of our PSHE curriculum, Year 6 pupils will also take part in sessions that support their transition to secondary school, as well as age‑appropriate learning around relationships and growing up.
Important Class Information:
PE Days: Tuesdays and Fridays. Children need to come to school wearing their PE kit.
Reading Books: reading books will be changed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Homework: A homework grid for this term is attached below (if required).
Reading: Please continue to listen to your child read daily, even for 10 minutes, and encourage them to complete the reading task in the reading journal. Books should be changed regularly. Comprehension texts will continue to be set for the children to complete regularly on Rockerbox at home.
Times Tables: It is important all pupils are learning (and continue to practice) the timetables up to the 12 times table. These should be known by the end of year 4 but it is essential that the children continue to practice and recall these facts.
Regular practise on Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) helps pupils to retain knowledge and helps them to utilise these facts in other mathematical learning. Please encourage your child to log in regularly - even if only for a few minutes each time.
