This term our topic is 'A Bear Called Paddington'.  In geography children will revise the continents and oceans of the world, before learning to use the eight points of a compass to locate countries and key geographical features in Europe and South America.  Science will examine the classification of living things and take a look at the impact of environmental change.  In DT children will engage in the design, plan and make process to understand how pulleys, cogs and gears can be used.  ICT will bring childrens' work to life as they use greenscreens to combine video images with different backgrounds and produce a news report.  RE will look at key celebrations of different faiths including Easter and Pentecost.

English

In English, we are looking at the use of direct speech in our writing and will be reading the book 'Paddington' together as a class.

Maths

We will be continuing with fractions before moving on to decimals, measure and time.

Reading: Please can you listen to your child read daily for 10 minutes, and complete the reading task in the reading journal.  Books should be changed regularly (every Tuesday and Friday).  Reading is the foundation for all learning, so your support with this will provide your child with the very best start to their education.

Maths Passport: Regular practise of Maths Passport targets helps pupils to retain knowledge and opens the door to all mathematical learning.

Times Tables:  It is important all pupils learn their times tables up to the 12 x and know these by the end of year 4 this will prepare them for the statutory times table test.

Homework Grid:  A copy of the new homework grid can be found below.  We would love your child to pick their favourite five activities to complete and are looking forward to sharing them in class.  Please submit all homework after the Easter holidays on Monday 8th April.

Thank you for your continued support, it makes such a huge difference to your child's learning. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.

Warm regards

Mrs Christopher
