Meet the Team

Mrs Tori Gainford (Class Teacher/ Deputy Headteacher)

Mrs Emma Dulson (Class Teaching Assistant)

Welcome to Beethoven Class. I am really looking forward to teaching in Year 4 again and getting to know all of our class over the next half term! I hope you have all had a wonderful summer and are fully rested ready for a busy busy year! I am looking forward to seeing if any of you managed to complete any of your summer challenges.

Mrs Gainford works Tuesday to Friday. Please come and find me at any point before or after school if you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning.

We are Beethoven Class and are named after the inspirational 18th Century composer and musician. Beethoven was significant to many people for many reasons, but he is inspirational to me because he didn't allow his love of music to stop even when he could not hear it himself. He continued creating music and was resilient enough to find a way that worked for him to continue doing what he loved most.

Important Class Information

Here you will find our class updates, photos and any important information about our class. Please pop back here to see what we have been doing during the term and to find out what is coming up.

PE Days:  Monday and Tuesday Children need to come to school wearing their PE kit.

Reading Books: reading books will be changed Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please continue to listen to your child read daily, even for 10 minutes, and get your child to complete the reading task in their reading journal.

Break time snack: If you wish for your child to have a snack at break time, please provide a healthy choice of fruit or vegetables.

Lunchtimes: Children will be eating lunch in their houses (Apollo, Endeavour, Galileo and Phoenix), and houses will be rotated regularly. This provides children with the opportunity to mix with other year groups and to maintain friendships in different classes and phases.

Homework: A homework grid can be found below.

Additional information:

Please ensure that all school uniform is clearly labelled so that we can easily return misplaced items to their owner.

Children are able to access and drink water throughout the day; it is important that children bring in a refillable water bottle daily. On sunny days, a named sun-hat is important for when playing outside and participating in sports activities.  Sun cream should be applied before the start of the school day. If you would like your child to re-apply, they should do so themselves during their lunch-break. It is important that they don't share with friends to avoid allergies.

Dates

Wednesday 2nd September - Children return to school

Thursday 3rd September - Year 3 and 4 Amaze Day!

Monday 7th September - Beethoven's class first PE lesson

Friday 16th October - Break up at 3.15pm for half term

Curriculum

This Term’s Topic: Explosive Planet

This term our topic has a mainly science and geography focus to it. We will be looking at the structure of the earth and how earthquakes and volcanoes are formed and occur. In science we will be looking at comparing and grouping rocks as well as what soil is made from and how fossils are formed. We shall also be improving our typing and correcting skills in ICT and hopefully we will fit some art skills in too! We will be having a weekly RE lesson and this term our questions are; what is Judaism? and what makes family special?

Times Tables Rockstars: Regular practise of TTRS will help pupils to retain knowledge that they can utilise facts in other mathematical learning. All pupils should have their login details and can play on phones or tablets!

Times Tables: It is important all pupils learn their timetables up to the 12 times table and know these by the end of year 4.  On Times Tables Rockstars, pupils can play 'Sound Check,' an MTC simulator that presents 25 multiplication questions (up to 12×12), with a six-second time limit for each question.

Thank you for your continued support. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
